Toronto Made: KINK
Published on November 23, 2016
You don’t have to be born – or even live – in Ontario's capital city to relate to #TorontoMade. Toronto Made is for everyone who's ever been touched by the city's sights, sounds, communities, and culture.
For musicians, Toronto is a city of possibilities and opportunities. It's a hub for the music industry, filled with talent, studios, performance spaces, and audiences eager to experience live shows. Musicians have a lot of opportunities to be seen and heard, and to connect with like minds.
KINK is an example. Comprised of Toronto native Dani Gagnon and Montreal transplant Erica Schiopu, KINK is a pop-punk duo that blends unique harmonies and hooky, dark melodies with contemplative lyrics.
Formed in 2014, the duo has built an impressive following by playing select shows, often on prominent stages, and connecting directly with fans through social media. Their catchy debut EP, Fine Lines, also garnered radio play, including rotation on Brazil's largest station. KINK is currently at work on a new mini-album, to be released as a series of singles beginning in January. They will also tour Europe in 2017.
KINK recently performed as part of TD Music Fridays, a live music series featuring artists who have found their inspiration, stories or sounds in Toronto. We later caught up with KINK in the Queen West neighbourhood that has motivated them, and countless other Canadian musicians.

TD Music Fridays continue through December at Toronto's Union Station.
