Deep Concentration: The Future of Canadian Jazz
Published on April 1st, 2016.

Now in our 13th year of supporting the creation and performance of music, TD is committed to helping nurture next generations of Canadian talent. One of the ways we do this is through the presentation of music residencies and other educational programming produced by prominent jazz festivals in Vancouver, Victoria, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax.

Each festival has its unique programming, designed to foster the emergence of new artists. Five festivals produce concentrated, multi-day music residencies where young players are deeply immersed in learning experiences led by a wealth of talent.

Here’s what each of them has to offer the future of Canadian jazz:

Students then show off their skills by creating artwork live at Nathan Phillips Square during the festival.
