ArtsCan Circle visits isolated indigenous communities in Labrador, Quebec, Northern Ontario and the Arctic to provide hands-on music and art experiences for the children and youth. The program also donates new musical instruments and art supplies that will remain in the communities to help ensure children will have ongoing opportunities for artistic and musical expression. ArtsCan Circle runs workshops twice a year and continues to return to the same communities to develop a level of trust and to have a lasting impact on the youth who participate in the workshops.
The children and youth of these remote communities experience great challenges on a daily basis and have few, if any, creative outlets. ArtsCan Circle workshops give youth a chance to learn new skills, to play, sing, write, paint and act. $6,500 has been awarded to ArtsCan through the MusiCounts TD Community Music Grant and this funding will be used to purchase harmonicas and ukuleles.
Congratulations to ArtsCan Circle!
