Currently based in Toronto’s Parkdale neighborhood, SKETCH is an arts-based program aimed at at-risk youth in Toronto.
The program currently engages 150-200 youth through drop-in style music-making workshops over the course of a year. They also engage 24 individuals in a series of eight graduated skill-building workshops through three partnerships – Turning Point Youth Services, Native Child and Family Services of Toronto and the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). SKETCH’s partnership with TDSB’s Section 23 program will see high-risk students earn post-secondary school credits through their participation in the SKETCH music program.
With the $20,000 awarded through the MusiCounts TD Community Music Grant, SKETCH has purchased recording studio equipment, including iMacs, microphones, and headphones. Not only will these items help continue to build out their Parkdale music studio, but they will also assit in the creation of mobile recording and production studio stepus that can be taken to various priorty neighbourhoods across the city.
Congratulations to SKETCH!
