Jeunes musiciens du monde (Young Musicians of the World) is an organization dedicated to the well-being of young people from four at risk communities in the province of Quebec. Learning about music is used as a means to motivate youth, develop a passion for music and encourage the discovery of their full potential. After 11 years of existence, more than 500 young people are enrolled and participate in all free musical activities offered. Jeunes musiciens du monde is often recommended by many health centers and social service workers to at risk youth.
To enrich their free music programs, Jeunes musiciens du monde will be purchasing violins, accordions and guitars with an awarded $16,000 through the MusiCounts TD Community Music Grant. The four current programs are located in Quartier St-Sauveur in Quebec City, Ascot neighborhood in Sherbrooke, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve in Montreal and the First Nations community of Algonquin Kitcisakik Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
