Small World is a celebration of cultural diversity expressed by one of the most potent tools available – music. A charitable organization, its vision is based on sharing cultural experience and ultimately, fostering cross-cultural understanding. In this role, the company has presented over 500 events since 1997. Its season is highlighted by the Small World Music Festival – ten days of eclectic programming capturing the best of global sounds at some of the city's premier venues. It features Small World in the Square, a free, day long outdoor 'festival within a festival' in the heart of Toronto. With spring comes the annual Asian Music Series, celebrating Asian and South Asian Heritage Month with an ambitious program of sounds, from ancient to cutting edge. In early 2014, the company will open the doors on the Small World Music Centre, launching its own venue – a high-quality listening room where intimate concerts and workshops will deepen cultural engagement, providing a hub for the world music community and a space for cross-cultural bridge-building.
